Entry Cost: $100

Click the button above or go to https://brewers.ontariobrewingawards.com/ to complete your entry registration form. Please ensure you complete the form based on how you want the company and brand names to appear on your award.

You can now sign in with your Canadian Brewing Awards account to participate in the Ontario Brewing Awards.

Starting in 2023, we are asking breweries to label their brews before submitting them for judging. This feature is available within the entries app, and will make it easier for us to keep track of every amazing entry. Thank you for your cooperation.

There are no limits to the number of beers/SKUs each brewery brand may enter.
Breweries may enter multiple different beers/SKUs into the same style category. However, the same beer/SKU cannot be entered into more than 1 (One) style category. Style Guidelines

Shipping Checklist

Entries Drop-off Window: September 18 - September 29

Drop-off Location: 947 Burlington St E, Unit 1, Hamilton, ON L8L 4K5

  1. Send 6 (Six) bottles/cans of each beer brand/SKU entered. Bottles and Cans do not require professional artwork or a professional label — Hand-written identifiers are acceptable. The Ontario Brewing Awards will not accept beer in keg format. Growlers and Howlers are discouraged. Companies submitting non-pasteurized products are encouraged to ship using overnight delivery (not for Saturday or Sunday delivery). Samples will be kept in proper refrigeration prior to judging.
  2. Ensure all beers are packed tightly in shipping boxes to avoid breakage. We strongly suggest you wrap each bottle securely in bubble wrap. Presume your beer will not be treated as Fragile or kept the correct way facing up within the postal system. All beers received will be refrigerated for the competition. You may ship multiple entries together. However, please separate the entry samples by category within the package and label accordingly.
  3. Ensure all boxes are labeled with COMPANY NAME, PRODUCT NAME, QUANTITY, and STYLE CATEGORY NUMBER. (downloadable shipping identification document in section below).

NOTE: We ask for multiple bottles/cans of your products for two reasons: Firstly, to ensure if your beer advances to further rounds, which often happen a day or two later, there are still fresh samples available for judging. Secondly, in the event that breakage, spillage, or spoilage occurs, we avoid the delay waiting for shipments of replacement products.

The competition is open to all Canadian-owned commercial brewers and beer brands whose products are produced and packaged in Ontario. All brands that are Ontario-made but not Canadian-owned will not be eligible for an Award. Beers submitted must currently be, have previously been, or will be, available for legal sale and consumption by the public.

Judging Dates: October 14 – October 22

The Ontario Brewing Awards is sanctioned by the Beer Judge Certification Program (“BJCP”).  Judging will be based on adherence to the published style guidelines. Consult the Style Guidelines on the Ontario Brewing Awards website to determine the appropriate category for each product submission.

Gold, Silver, and/or Bronze results will be announced at the Ontario Brewing Awards ceremony.

Best of Show
Selected by competition Judges from the year’s Gold-earning beers.

Following the Awards ceremony breweries will receive full judging notes, on each of their received submissions, emailed to the address used during competition registration.
